Risk was created by Albert Lamorisse, who was most famous for his work as a film director. You may be familiar with his 1956 film Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon). Risk was originally published in France in 1957 as La Conquête du Monde (The Conquest of the World). Production rights were later purchased by Parker Brothers and the game was first published as Risk in 1959.
Today we’re going to take a look at this 1968 Parker Brothers edition of Risk, which still maintains a number of features from the original 1959 release, and compare it to this 2015 Hasbro edition. Let’s see what’s changed and what has stayed the same over the course of almost fifty years.
