Organ Pipe National Monument // Ajo, Arizona

1502 39________

Welcome to Season 2! Our Southwest #Vanlife Series. We are Wiley & Dre and in this series we take our Van, Uhuru, and our Siberian Husky, Maisha out to the Southwest to explore states we have never been before including Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and California in search of t-shirt weather.

We left Utah and continued south on our journey in search of warm weather. We looked at the weather map and basically the only place it was going to be warm was very very southern Arizona for the next several days. Upon doing a little research Dre noticed that their was a national monument at the southern most section of Arizona. So we packed up the van and headed south to Organ Pipe National Monument. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful and quiet this park was.

It was our first time seeing the organ pipe and after doing a little of research the reason why we haven't seen the organ pipe cactus anywhere else is because this park only place in the US that they grow in the wild. This park has 31 different types of species of cactus live in this region and have had to adapt to extreme heat, intense sunlight, and small amounts of rain annually.

You could easily enjoy this park just by driving one or both of the loops within the park and see must of the plant life from the comforts of your vehicle. We chose to make two stops along the Puerto Blanco loop to see some springs.
