Terrifying Dinosaur Roars
Types of dinosaurs and their sounds.
Dinosaurs are a diverse group of reptiles that first appeared during the Triassic period, around 230 million years ago. They dominated the Earth for over 160 million years, until the end of the Cretaceous period, around 65 million years ago, when a mass extinction event led to their disappearance.
-Tyrannosaurus rex (T. rex) - Late Cretaceous, around 68-66 million years ago.
One of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs, T. rex stood about 12-20 feet tall at the hips and was about 40 feet long. It had a massive head with sharp teeth, short arms with two fingers each, and a long tail.
Its powerful jaws could bite with a force of around 8,000 pounds, making it one of the most powerful predators to have ever lived.
-Velociraptor - Late Cretaceous, around 75-71 million years ago.
A small, feathered carnivore, Velociraptors were about the size of a turkey, standing about 2 feet tall and measuring about 6-7 feet long.
They had a sickle-shaped claw on each foot, which they likely used to tackle and pin down their prey.
-Triceratops - Late Cretaceous, around 68-66 million years ago.
A herbivorous dinosaur, Triceratops had a large frill at the back of its head and three horns – one on its snout and two above its eyes.
It's one of the most recognizable dinosaurs due to its distinctive headgear, which might have been used for defense, attracting mates, or both.
