New immigration rules: Warning that pubs and hotels could be affected | ITV News
Kate Nicholls, the CEO of UK Hospitality, has warned that pubs, bars and hotels will need to 'curb their hours' if the government doesn't get the balance right between immigration controls and incentivising UK workers.
Today, the Prime Minister announced a series of measures to cut net migration, as part of a white paper being proposed by ministers.
They include new rules to cut down on unskilled migrant workers.
Ms Nicholls told ITV News that she recognised the need to control migration, but said it had to be met with additional measures to encourage British people to fill vacancies.
She said the cost of employment was the greatest barrier to hospitality businesses at the moment, following the rise in National Insurance paid by employers.
Ms Nicholls called for "urgent reforms" on apprenticeships, training and skills levies.
