What were George Lucas' plans for the sequel trilogy? Star Wars Fast Facts #Shorts
Did you know George Lucas included detailed plans for Episodes 7, 8 and 9 when he sold Lucasfilm to Disney?
In the book The Star Wars Archives: 1999-2005, Lucas indicated the third Star Wars trilogy would focus on Anakin’s grandchildren and Princess Leia.
As the Empire crumbles and flees to the far corners of the galaxy to start their own rebellion, Darth Maul, as godfather of the crime syndicate, would assume control of the galaxy. His apprentice, Darth Talon - a Twi’lek Sith Lord - would have most of the action focused on her.
Leia’s struggle to rebuild the Republic, wresting control away from the gangsters, would prove more challenging than starting a rebellion or fighting a war.
By the end of the trilogy, Luke would have rebuilt the Jedi Order, Leia would be Supreme Chancellor of the New Republic, and it would be revealed she is the Chosen One - not Anakin Skywalker.
