Bernalillo County held a Public meeting at Expo New Mexico on February 26th to answer questions about the proposal future of the State Fair Grounds. The meeting was for information regarding processes where the community could engage. What is a Tax Increment Development District (TIDD)? What does that mean for the State Fair Grounds and the community? What is the process for the State Fair Master Plan? No decisions have been made at this point whether or not to move the State Fair. The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners is taking the proactive step in considering making the area a Tax Increment Development District where taxes generated from the area would go back into the area to pay for improvements. Currently all gross receipts tax and property taxes raised from that area go into the state's general fund.
