Attempting To Eavesdrop On Mark Rober's Satellite
About a month ago @MarkRober launched "Sat Gus", a small cubesat designed for taking selfies in space. You can find more about it here: space.crunchlabs.com/ and you can find Mark's video about it here: • I Tried Building My Own Space Satellite
As a curious amateur satellite enthusiast, I decided to see if I could find Sat Gus in orbit. There's no official tracking information yet, but I did find some preliminary orbital data here: community.libre.space/t/transporter-12-rideshare-v…
There's also no exact radio frequency data, but I found some info about the satellite's operating company, including possible frequencies and ground stations, here: terranorbital.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/0158_…
I'm using Gpredict to operate my motorized antennas based on the preliminary TLE data: oz9aec.dk/gpredict/
I also like N2YO.com for satellite tracking: www.n2yo.com/
More information about TLE files can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-line_element_set
I'm using a HackRF One (amzn.to/3X1TVXg) as well as an RTL-SDR (amzn.to/41e7TaX) and a UHF Yagi antenna (amzn.to/4hWjnpc).
(I get a small cut if you buy any gear through these links)
I've also been using my DIY S-band satellite dish, you can find my video about it here: • Modifying RV Satellite Dish To Track ...
