As someone who was once saved by Kouichi Haimai, the protagonist of Vigilante,
I poured my heart into creating this song as a way of giving back.

It's April now, and I know it’s that time of year when it’s easy to feel crushed by the success of friends or coworkers. On top of that, the pollen is brutal.
It’s tough when you feel envious, or when you see someone else standing in a place where you thought you were supposed to be.
That stuff stings like hell. And hearing people say things like “just look forward” doesn’t help at all.
If I were the type who could just look forward that easily, I probably would’ve still been in that place to begin with.

But you know what? It’s okay.
There’s a kind of coolness in “living your life in a place you weren’t meant to be.”
Just like in Vigilante, even if your appearance or position changes, there’s still so much you can do.
What we truly wanted wasn’t to become a certain profession—it was to help people, right?
(And if I got that wrong, I blame the pollen. Seriously, it’s the pollen’s fault.)

Anyway, more than titles or icons, I think what really matters is doing your best for someone else.
There’s a huge difference between “cooking for yourself and giving the leftovers to your family”
versus “cooking for your family and keeping the leftovers for yourself,”
even if the food looks, weighs, or tastes the same.
As for me—I cook for my family, then make another portion just for myself so I can eat a lot. (??)
